Dull skin rejuvanation? Sure. Acne scar lightening? We’ve heard of facials that zap those. But a facial that even works meticulously on dark circles? Yes, please! We’ve gushed about Ceramiracle before; the California-based brand with a serum inspired by, well, the wax-like substance babies are born with. And given how much we loved the product, we were eager to try the Celebrity Medifacial at Ceramiracle’s The Aesthetics Salon.
It’s interesting that the 85-minute-long facial is the only treatment available at the salon, which is also home to The Ageless Cafe. Here, over 20 all-organic brews are served from coffee to tea, and even cake. We hate to be facial snobs, but the menu is a rather refreshing break from the usual lemongrass tea served after facials.
Who should try this: Anyone with a low tolerance for pain. We tend to expect the holy trinity of facial-fixers when we step in a beauty salon: exfoliate, extract and mask on. But this facial aims to forgo that in favour of machines. As far as skin concerns go, this facial addresses problems like anti-ageing, dark circles, acne, pigmentation and scars. The better question is: what doesn’t it address?

The experience: The facial begins with a patented 3D Ultrasonic Deep Cleanse that reminded us of the cult favourite Clarisonic, sloughing away dead skin cells and bacteria trapped in the pores. Next, the beautician used an Arctic Light IPL device on problem areas of the skin. The pulses of light could be felt like tiny zaps of electricity but thankfully, was completely pain-free. While IPL is known for removing hair — which in this instance, sadly does not — it does penetrate deep into the skin to boost the development of of collagen.
The following step is the Deep Stimulation RF that contours the face for a lifted look, helping to tighten up mature skin. Finally, the beautician applied an icy cold Cryo-toning massage for about 10 minutes — a chilled sensation that lasted long after the facial was done.
What we thought of it: It’s not the kind of facial where you’re lulled to sleep, but it does work wonders on the skin. Being the sceptics we are, we packed our daily makeup routine into a tiny vanity — obviously we weren’t completely confident walking around all day bare faced. So imagine our surprise when we stepped out of the facial room looking not too shabby. We’ve been craving a break from makeup and thanks to the Celebrity Medifacial, going bare skin has never felt quite so good. And might be add, cold.
