Places in KL with dessert mooncakes like ice cream and chocolate

Ice cream mooncakes are definitely something we can get behind, especially if it’s by Crème De La Crème (CDLC). For this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, CDLC will be making four new petits gâteaux in a limited-edition pop-art mooncake gift set. All four flavours are inspired by the tradition behind the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Apollo draws inspiration from the moon and is made of Japanese Genmai ice cream, Japanese Nori cracker, white chocolate, and gold flake garnish with black sesame ice cream and a matcha ganache as the yolk. Next is Hamtaro, made of roasted almond ice cream with a dark chocolate almond crunch, Pain de Gênes and dark chocolate dip with a French dark chocolate ice cream as the yolk.

The third flavour is Moon Rabbit made with French Earl Grey ice cream, organic yoghurt ice cream, milk chocolate cereal crunch, and white chocolate dip with mango passion fruit sorbet as the yolk. Finally, there’s the Red Lanternmade with oolong tea ice cream and white chocolate dip with longan sorbet as the yolk.

If you make an order before September 15th, you will enjoy a 15% discount. A 20% discount applies for bulk orders of 30 boxes and above. A box set of 4 mooncakes is priced at RM120.

Artisanal baker Valen’s Patisserie is introducing some gorgeous dessert mooncakes this year with chocolates. With a pretty butterfly theme, this chocolate mooncake collection will also feature two new flavours: Matcha Sakura and Yuzu Jasmine. The former is inspired by the sakura season in Japan and is crafted with premium dark chocolate and a matcha filling with a ganache core of sweet sakura. Meanwhile, the latter has a citrusy yuzu filling with a ganache core made with delicate floral notes of jasmine, encased in premium dark chocolate.

We know we said dessert mooncakes, yet we couldn’t help but include Nobu KL’s mooncake offerings for the year. For the mother lode of ice cream mooncakes, look no further than Inside Scoop’s extra-large Supermoon mooncake that comes in its own gold gift box. Made with pistachio ice cream and a raspberry jelly centre, this 7.5-inch mooncake is made to share — but we won’t tell if you want to finish it on your own.
