Alas, we kick off long-awaited plans for the second half of 2019. Ready or not, here comes food, food and more food:
Aka the place you recommend your friends visiting from out of town, Marini’s on 57 is throwing a fun event for just one night only. Guests will receive two signature cocktails that are the Pinch of Pepper and Mellow Sundown Cocktail, with a bonus Martell Sidecar DIY cocktail. The latter is, as its name reveals, the brand’s version of the classic cognac, lemon juice and triple sec refresher. Apart from making and drinking the cocktails, guests will also receive pictures of them playing mixologists, along with other surprises. The event starts at 9.00pm.
Nobu is in celebration mode as they collaborate with the soon-to-be-opened Nobu Hotel Barcelona and welcome the return of Chef Hervé Courtot. Joining forces with KL’s own Chef Philip Leong and Chef Micheole “Chico” Anung Dator, the ‘Nobu Trilogy’ Osusume menu shows off dishes from Nobu Kuala Lumpur and the new hotel, which officially opens in September. Good food aside, it’s a treat for the eyes as the three chefs create the dishes right at your table, which include Grilled Oyster Shiso Salsa and Caviar, Seafood Ceviche with Dragon Fruit and Mediterranean Seabass with Truffle Ponzu.
One o’clock, two o’clock, gin o’clock, rock! Get more than just a taste of gins and rums from around the world, attend masterclasses and purchase your favourite bottles at special prices. Some of your favourite local bars are setting up pop-ups too, and you can also expect games, eating contests and performances. Arguably, the best part is that Common Ground is fur baby-friendly so bring your pets too.
No boys allowed: Spark is a program designed around female empowerment, helping women rediscover their inner strength, love themselves and let go of anything holding them back. The one-day event entails an opening circle, boundaries exercise, meditation, intuitive flow, dance and closing circle, along with other activities and talks by Supparetreat lifestyle coaches. Goodie bags also await.
There’s a new afternoon tea experience in town and we know you love those. Hotel Stripes KL is introducing a tea story they’ve named Bao-Tea-Ful, with a tagline that reads “Have a bao, sip on tea, and have a beautiful day”. Just that alone is enough to impress, but we probably had you at ‘bao’. Just so you know, it’s free-flow bao all around. The afternoon tea set is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 3pm-6pm.
