Before it was destroyed in a fire, the Madras Theatre was an icon back in the 60s and 70s. Where you’d now find a wet market, bodies including Think City, DBKL and Citi Foundation are working to restore its iconic reputation in entertainment as part of the Laneway Improvement Programme. Lorong Fest is just one of the efforts we’ll be seeing along the historic laneways of Kuala Lumpur, with activities like film screenings, ais kacang workshops, a photo exhibition, along with performances by the Dhol Federation, Ryot Jones and more to keep you entertained. The event takes place from 3pm to 10pm on Friday, and from 10am to 10pm during the weekend.
Last week, KL had the pleasure of laughing along with Kenny Sebastian and now, LOL Asia presents Malaysian-born Ronny Chieng. The comedian and actor is a correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Comedy Central, co-wrote and starred in his own television comedy series, Ronny Chieng: International Student, and you might also recognise him as Eddie Cheng in Crazy Rich Asians. Chieng has also just wrapped up his own Netflix Comedy Central. The show slots are on for 7pm and 9pm.
