Speaking of big figures, this week is also your chance to meet local political cartoonist Zunar, author of ‘Fight Through Cartoons’. His book is an intriguing tell-all about the harassment he has faced including his nine sedition charges, journeying all the way to the 14th Malaysian General Election in 2018. Take a look at the events happening near you:
Political cartoonist Zunar is no stranger to controversy, which you can read all about in his tell-all book, ‘Fight Through Cartoons’. In it, he shares the trials and tribulations faced between 2009 and 2018, including the banning of his books, arrests, office raids, travel ban, nine sedition charges and harassment against the printers and bookstores. It’s not all gloom as Zunar also goes into his creative process and philosophies. Now, you can meet the man himself in person over an afternoon at Lit Books.
Be it to experience a trip up to Genting Highlands, for an epic Sunday night, to catch R3hab live – or all three – Zouk Genting is officially launching and you’re invited. The highlight of course, is Dutch DJ R3hab, who’s been hailed by the likes of Forbes and Billboard Magazine. But before that, Malaysian duo BATE will take on the decks for another one of their energetic sets not to be missed.
Dedicated to art in the era of #MeToo, this exhibition celebrates women and sheds light on women’s empowerment, right, and equality. There are 30 works on display created by French contemporary artists Veronique V, Christine Gauthier, and JM Robert, with paintings and ceramics shown for the first time locally. All artwork feature a very distinct pop and street art flair. The exhibition is open every day by appointment only.
Taiwanese award-winning saxophonist Minyen Hsieh is releasing his second solo studio album, “As Good As Water”. Taking its name from the nature of music improvisation, the melodies are simple and pure like water. Taking the stage as a trio, the performance is set to tell a story with ever-changing interaction that breaks on the shore of rhythm and notes coming together harmoniously.
The congress celebrates 25 years as a platform for like-minded learners and innovators to come together, as they share and inspire business strategies, processes and the mindset it takes to succeed. Speaking this year are two names synonymous with entrepreneurship, Gary Vaynerchuk (also known as Gary Vee), founder and CEO or VaynerX, as well as Grant Cardone, best-selling author and real estate mogul.
