Malaysian fashion illustrator Lihuà, who created the beautiful artwork for Prestige Malaysia‘s IWD 2019 special, shares more of her work in an exclusive solo exhibition. The artist has collaborated with a number of international fashion houses over the span of her 10-year career, which includes Christian Louboutin, Dior, Prada, Chanel, and Hugo Boss.

Her inspiration, she says, comes from fashion media, music, and European museums.

“I try to put movement into my drawing such as things you’d never see in photography,” shares Lihua. “I don’t like showing complete visuals in my work. I like to leave space for movement. My techniques go as far as my strokes. Then the watercolours take a life of its own and dances with the paper. This makes the drawings come alive. This is what fashion designers want with their creations.”

Have a self-care day and book an appointment at the newest beauty and wellness centre in Sri Petaling. Owner Magdalene Yan developed the idea for Skin Fairy Therapeutics after battling the autoimmune disorder Hashimoto Thyroiditis, a condition that left her with drastic hair fall, an intolerance to cold temperatures, and severe weight gain.

“It was a difficult time where I lost control of my body, and I went to seek many different treatments to help my body return to peak form. Unfortunately I have a very low tolerance to pain, and I was disappointed at many treatments that claimed not to be painful, but were,” Magdalene shares.

With the intention of a wellness centre that offered pain-free solutions with zero down time, she opened up Skin Fairy Therapeutics where it now offers treaements like EmSculpt Neo, Sigmalift Hifu and HydraGlowfacials, along with exclusive Korean skincare products. Her clients include Loui Lim, Fazura, Datin Diana Danielle, and Tong Bing Yu.

Artist Mella Jaarsma was born in the Netherlands but has worked and lived in Yogyakarta since 1984. This exhibition takes inspiration from the significance of size for a single grain of rice, long ago used as a measurement unit for commerce in Southeast Asia.

Jaarsma worked with four dancers to create an object for each of them, inspired by their understanding of measurements of dance and time through dance. Then, she welcomed the performer to interact with the artwork they embodied.

This solo exhibition by Mella Jaarsma and curated by Vipash Purichanot features artworks, drawings, painting and videos from the series. Call or DM on Instagram to make a viewing appointment.
