Ever wondered what it takes to get red-carpet ready for the Prestige KL Ball? We speak with Lim Ai San, the HR administrative director of property company, Coral Fields and one of this year’s winners in the Best Dressed Female category, to find out how she felt about her big win and how much planning went into her gorgeous ensemble.
How far in advance did you start preparing for this year’s KL Ball?
I would say as soon I got the invitation.
How did you go about picking the perfect outfit for your ensemble?
The outfit was actually by chance. I stumbled upon it in September and the minute I had it on (and a lot of coaxing to buy it) I bought it! Then when I found out about the theme, I knew it would perfectly fit the theme and I knew what accessories I would wear to go with it.
Would you mind sharing with us the brands that you wore that night?
Bag by TheChicInitiative; shoes by Celeste Thoi; head gear by Eugenia Kim; dress by CJGALA.
On the day of the event, how early did you start getting ready? Tell us more about your process.
I started at 2pm with hair by Raymond Choon of Hairco. That took an hour and I went straight to Zaidi Zain from Dior Cosmetics to have my skin and makeup prep. Both already knew what look they wanted to achieve when I showed them the dress and told them the theme.
If you had to choose just one favourite thing from your look that night, what would it be and why?
I would probably say the makeup. It was different and not something I thought I would personally ask for myself. When Zaidi wanted to do a J’adore Dior sultry gold-dreamy princess-goddess look, I didn’t think it was possible — but he made it happen.
Lastly, could you describe to our readers how it felt when you heard your name being called out to receive this award?
Amazing, with a bit of disbelief. I truly paused for a moment. If it wasn’t for my friends and husband, who pointed out that my name was being called, I would have probably sat there and wondered if I was imagining it all.
