The first day of a new year is the perfect time to reprioritise your life choices while setting goals for the future. If you’re searching for effective ways of changing your life for the better, here are some choice quotes to help you to come up with some resolutions of your own and make 2020 your best year yet.
The responses below have been edited for clarity.
My focus for 2020 is on championing patient-empowered dentistry that will enable people to improve their dental health and quality of life. I also want to become more actively involved in campaigning for animal rights by rescuing stray animals and spreading awareness on the plight of these vulnerable creatures.
Last year proved to be one of the hardest years of my life as my beloved father had passed away. From this experience, my hope is to live more in the present instead of focusing on what could’ve been, while continuing to give the best of myself to God, family, work and community.
Leaning into grief has also taught me how important it is to take care of myself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I also intend to cultivate greater kindness through my thoughts, words and deeds, so that I will have less regrets in life!
My resolution for 2020 is to invest more time in self-love. Previously, I would always prioritise everything else above my own needs while rushing against the clock and wearing multiple hats in a day. I have to learn to take it easier this year. I also intend on making 2020 a healthier one which means attending more workout sessions and having home-cooked meals with my loved ones.
My goal for 2020 is to spend more quality time with friends and family as well as meditating. My career as a musician involves travelling quite a bit, which is beyond my wildest dreams, but it also means I’m away quite often and will miss out on important things happening back home. So for this year, I want to be better at looking after myself as well as my relationships.
Being more environmentally friendly is always on my yearly list of resolutions. For 2020, my plan is to focus on reducing emissions while treading lightly on this Earth. This includes installing solar energy panels and LED lights for my abode as well as at work.
I’m also planning on adjusting my diet by incorporating at least one vegan meal per day, with alternate vegetarian days, red meat every other quarter, and only sticking do dairy when I’m having coffee. I can imagine some will be wondering why I don’t just switch fully to full vegan or vegetarian; however, even as an environmentalist, the struggle is real and setting doable goals is part of the journey towards switching from business as usual to living more sustainably.
