This week has something in store for everyone: an immersive musical by Liver and Lung Productions titled Malaya Relived – The Fall of Singapore — which even has a dress code, birthday celebrations over at one of our favourite boozy haunts, and the world’s biggest French gastronomy events taking over French eateries here in Kuala Lumpur. Question is, how many of these can you squeeze into your week?
Over 150 countries are partaking in what’s been called the world’s biggest event honouring French gastronomy. Now in its fifth year, 5000 chefs across five continents plan to cook up a French dinner with a focus on responsible cooking. 20 restaurants in Kuala Lumpur will be partaking in the event, including Entire, Soleil and DC Restaurant.
Kuala Lumpur is set to welcome three very special guests: Thomas Bjørn, Padraig Harrington (who was recently appointed as European captain for the 2020 tournament) and for the first time, the Ryder Cup trophy. The visit comes in conjunction with the Maybank Championship taking place this weekend, and is a regular stop on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai. Fans of the sport should definitely check this one out!
With live music, food and a costume-theme for attendees, this is indeed one theatrical event. Don’t forget to come dressed in 1940s-inspired Malayan clothes. The Fall is Singapore is a three-act musical that seeks to unravel the tenuous foundations that the Malayan cultural identity is built upon. Set within a gorgeous new gallery in town, the space is transformed into a dilapidated ‘kampung’ living room.
AlexTBH is name everyone should get familiar with, so we highly recommend making a date for his intimate concert this weekend. The pop star is considered to be our country’s first queer icon and he’s even opened for international acts like Khalid and Sevdaliza. His style of music can be described as mellow and stylistic with a R&B influence.
You’re cordially invited to JungleBird’s birthday celebrations – a three-day-long bash that promises to be full of booze, good music and great company. Expect guest shifts with renowned guest shifts featuring mixologists and bartenders from Singapore and the UK, as well as masterclasses and tasting sessions.
