It was an evening to remember for the handpicked coterie of elite guests who had converged at the Grand Ballroom of Hilton Kota Kinabalu to celebrate the Prestige Malaysia KK Ball. Based on the theme ‘Arabian Nights’, this much-anticipated event marked the highlight of Sabah’s high society’s social calendar as they gathered to celebrate a memorable evening of merriment and extravagance.
Upon arriving at the hotel’s main entrance, the distinguished guests made their way to the cocktail area where they mingled while consuming copious amounts of liquid sunshine by Mumm Champagne. This was followed by an announcement from Mark Raine, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. Standing beside the new Mercedes-Benz S 450 L AMG, Raine officiated the launch of the new S-Class family in Kota Kinabalu as the bedazzled crowd marvelled at the vehicle’s contemporary design and exquisite craftsmanship.
The celebrations continued at the resplendent main dining area which had been elegantly decorated with flowing fabrics, flowers, candles and oversized hanging Moroccan lanterns that emitted a beautiful array of colours. Following a thrilling live violin performance, Associate Publisher of Hubert Burda Malaysia Rubin Khoo delivered a rousing welcome speech before presenting the event’s ‘hostess with the mostest’ Datin Viannie Undikai with a spectacular handmade bouquet as a token of appreciation.

After feasting on gourmet cuisine that had been specially curated for the ball, it was finally time to announce this year’s best dressed guests: Kerry Yong-Nair and Datuk Gordon Leong. The party continued on the makeshift dance-floor that had been set-up at the adjacent room where guests, complete with Lord’s Tailor 1974 goodie bag in hand, shimmied the night away to the hypnotic tracks spun by DJ Ethan Curzon.
