If you like: Foreign cinema, namely European flicks
What’s going on: Spanning animation, drama, romance, comedy, documentary, children’s film and more, the 19th edition of the festivals is set to showcase the very best of European cinema. A highlight this year is the screening of ‘Loving Vincent’, the enthrallingly rendered animation about the life of Vincent Van Gogh.

If you like: Make that love, Malaysian arts and culture
What’s going on: Celebrating the local ‘identity’, Think City is holding workshops, exhibitions, performances and more. A highlight this year is the screening of movies by one of Malaysia’s greatest film makers, the late Yasmin Ahmad. Catch up on some of her best films including ‘Gubra’, ‘Musin’, and ‘Sepet’.

If you like: Art depicting history and travel
What’s going on: In collaboration with National Galley Singapore and Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Pompidou, Malaysian modernist painter, sculptor and poet Latiff Mohidin is showcasing some of his most famous work. Titled ‘Pago Pago’, the expressionist paintings explores the political and social landscapes across Europe and Southeast Asia.

What’s going on: The fitting theme for this year’s art show is ‘Malaysia: Rebirth’, where 80 artists will come together to showcase their personal interpretation of the nation’s journey, lessons, and aspirations. Artists known to the local scene include Faiz ZA, Sabihis Md Pandi, Hafizuddin Azman, and Najib Bamadhaj.

If you like: Dim sum
What’s going on: For a limited time, tuck into dim sum prepared specially by Chef Tam To Ming. The chef hails from the award-winning one-Michelin star restaurant Yee Tung Heen at The Excelsior Hong Kong. During his residence at Mandarin Oriental’s Lai Po Heen, the chef will showcase an array of dainty dim sum creations to savour.
