In 1988, DBG, as he is commonly known, set up the Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation, one of India’s largest NGOs. To date, it has helped people in 2,400 villages realise sustainable development projects. The 76-year-old’s Change India Programme, which aims to reduce poverty in Dhule district under the DeshBandhu & Manju Gupta Foundation, is in its fourth year.
