Binod Chaudhary

Nepal’s only billionaire is not nicknamed Noodle King for nothing. One of the most popular brands from Chaudhary’s conglomerate — which has assets from biotech to financial services — is Wai instant noodles, with two billion packets sold yearly. Chaudhary, 60, had a hand in the noodle’s creation in 1980, after noticing that Nepali visitors to Thailand were bringing instant noodles home. These days, Chaudhary is investing in hotels, telecom and hydropower.
