Jazeman Jaafar

Granted, it was not a slow drive across the countryside when your dream is to become an international racing driver; his professional motorsports training began at six, and he was already deprived of the “luxury” most kids would have growing up: staying out late and having fun with friends – the fundamentals of just being a “normal” kid, basically. However, you reap what you sow. After close to 20 years, Jazeman Jaafar has sown big: he was only 14 when he was the youngest professional racer to win the Formula BMW Asia in 2007; in 2012, he was the first Asian to finish vice-champion in the British Formula 3 Championship; and in 2015, he became the first Asian to win the Monaco Grand Prix in the Formula Renault 3.5 series. “Do it for the passion, and never for the fame,” acclaims Jazeman, who recently competed in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup strapped into a Mclaren 650S GT3, and is already looking to compete in the same circuit next year, alongside the acclaimed 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. “Day in and day out, I’m doing what I love most, and the mere passion itself has given me the drive to achieve my goals and dreams, one of them being Malaysia’s most successful racing driver with many more races won under my belt.”
