Qinghou Zong

Zong Qinghou

From making a paltry $8 a month selling soft drinks and ice cream to children nearly 30 years ago, Zong, 69, is now a beverage tycoon and one of China’s richest men. His fortune turned after he founded Hangzhou Wahaha Group in 1987, buying TV and newspaper ads to create brand awareness. It worked. His empire now makes soft drinks and baby formula, as well as children’s clothes.
