Let’s make Malaysian roads safe again. That’s the objective behind DriveMark, an app which strives to create a favourable ecosystem for safe drivers by scoring driving behavior and encouraging ethical driving practices. 


“We are building a community that rewards safe drivers through fairer motor insurance, free fuel, gadgets and other goodies,” says Syed Ahmad Fuqaha, CEO and founder of DriveMark. He elaborates on DriveMark’s origins, explaining that the app’s creation had been incidental, an off-shoot of his team’s main project Katsana. 


“We developed a driver scoring system to measure the behaviour of fleet drivers (eg. buses and taxis). From there, we discovered that Malaysia has one of the worst road fatalities in the world,” Syed points out. “It is now our mission to encourage drivers to become safer – the fastest way to do so is by developing the DriveMark app.” 


It would probably be a safe bet to say that the million dollar question on your mind right now is: can Malaysian drivers truly change? Syed admits that he’d initially been skeptical too. “After collecting data from over 65,000 users and two years of experience in nudging drivers to become safer, we see that we are on the right track,” he claims. “Reading reviews and feedback from users saying they now drive better due to DriveMark is all it takes to make this journey worthwhile.”
