As co-founder and COO of Carsome, Southeast Asia’s first online automotive portalthatempowerscarsellerstoselltheir cars in less than 24 hours, Teoh Jiun Ee is engrossed with the start-up’s day-to-day business operation. That means driving the company to achieve business goals and objectives, sales, cash flow, profitability, alongside co-founder Eric Cheng. The duo knew each other when they were both colleagues at their previous workplace prior to establishing Carsome.
Carsome today operates in four countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. “The automotive industry in Southeast Asia speaks for itself. It is a no- brainer for us to venture out regionally as the volume of cars sold (new/used) per year is coming from the countries that we have targeted and are already in – Indonesia being number one, followed by Thailand and then Malaysia,” Jiun Ee speaks on their decision to expand regionally. “The potential of Carsome’s business model is definitely needed in these
markets due to the similarities of experiences on the car selling journey.”
Going forward, Jiun Ee has ambitious plans for the stakeholders, especially car dealers who are indispensable to Carsome’s business and success. Not only is Carsome eyeing the number one spot as a car-selling platform in Southeast Asia, “we also want to provide opportunities for business owners (dealers) to be able to grow their businesses by providing multiple offers and services that involve the purchasing funnel, all the way down to financing, listing, etc.”
