Known as the brainchild behind Gallo by Thian, Teresa has carved a name for herself in the fashion industry through her whimsical, elegant pieces that have been featured in various international fashion shows, including the Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Paris Fashion Week. The Raffles Design Institute Kuala Lumpur graduate first cut her teeth in the industry by working as a fashion coordinator in a local department store before setting up her own brand.
Her second label, Bythian, received tremendous support worldwide and features women’s apparel made with fine fabrics and high-quality sewing techniques. According to Teresa, both Gallo by Thian and Bythian embody the same romantic, feminine style and soul, catering to the modern woman who dares to dream. “I’m proud to say that Bythian has come a long way as we have now set up hubs in Malaysia, Thailand and China. I have plans to establish and introduce Bythian Girl, Bythian Florist and a men’s line as well,” says the mother of two, who isn’t afraid to step out of her comfort zone.
As a local designer, one of the challenges she constantly faces is sourcing for materials locally. This has led to frequent travels abroad where Teresa sources for fine fabrics to craft her beautiful feminine pieces. However, if she has the ability to stop time, the devoted mother wishes to spend quality moments with her precious family.
