Lexus coins and creates a new genre of ‘luxury movers’, with the Lexus LM 350 leading the way.
When you spend a lot of hours in traffic, making your way from A to B, and to C, you deserve comfort, space, and privacy in your automobile. The young CEO about town gets chauffeured around, always in a sleek black MPV. It’s the dream — and if the sleek black MPV is a Lexus LM 350, we’ll take the promotion too.
The model’s look has been given a lot of thought to emphasise the vehicle’s respect for space, or as a sanctuary (some may call it “social distancing”). Interiors are luxurious and roomy, exemplifying the Japanese art of exceptional experiences and hospitality, known as Omotenashi.
Just four seats allow for ample legroom, even when the seats are completely reclined. These seats do far more than recline, of course, they feature the intuitive Adaptipedic cushioning that forms according to your body shape, but there’s more — seven different massage functions with five massage pressure levels, complete with cooling and heating functions.
In the same cabin, there’s even space for a fold-out magazine rack, cubicles, and a built-in mini fridge. It’s a business class suite on wheels.
But if two’s a crowd, and four is perhaps literally, your company, private space can be achieved with the touch of a button. What it does is raises a glass panel between the first and second row of seats. Expect acoustic isolation, while electronic particles embedded into the glass panels offer customisable opacity.
Entertainment comes when you plug into the 19-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, plus a 26-inch HD display panel.
“With its outstanding comfort, sophisticated beauty and exceptional functionality, the Lexus LM 350 has single-handedly redefined the luxury MPV segment by taking fine automobile experiences where no luxury automobile has been,” said President of Lexus Malaysia Mr Ravindran K.
A high waistline is complemented with a large spindle grill, helping to frame the ultra-compact 3-beam LED projector headlights. Exterior lines sharp and bold are accentuated with chrome highlights.
The driver has access to a 12.3-inch touchscreen display which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These systems allow for a seamless experience when using apps such as Waze or Google Maps for navigation. The front display screen can also be operated using an intuitive remote touchpad.
Under the hood is a powerful 3.5 litre quad cam V6 powerplant delivering an output of 296hp with 361Nm of torque. You’d expect a big vehicle to roar, but the Lexus LM 350 has 18-inch noise-reducing alloy rims finished in hyper chrome metallic.
Lexus fits its cutting edge suspension system to finitely control oil flow, which allows the MPV to respond quickly to potholes and other minor bumps on the road for a smooth ride.
And for the important safety checklist, Lexus Safety System + (LSS+) includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with stop and go function, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Adaptive High-Beam System (AHS).
The Lexus LM 350 comes in two colours: Black and White Pearl Crystal Shine, priced at RM1,148,000 on the road without insurance (Peninsular Malaysia). Early customers will receive their brand new LM 350 produced in the Inabe plant from as early as the end of July.
