On a bustling Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, a distinguished group of guests from across Southeast Asia were invited by 8 Conlay Sales Gallery to partake in a special preview of the latest coveted creations from the third edition of the Dior Lady Art project. First introduced in 2016, this collaborative project celebrates offers talented creatives ranging from visual and contemporary artists to photographers, painters and sculptors with an opportunity to come up with their own unique interpretation of the beloved bag.

Adored for its classic shape, lean lines and feminine aesthetics, no Dior collection could possibly be complete without mentioning the iconic Lady Dior. The bag first debuted in 1994 and was originally named “Chouchu” (the French word for favourite); after it was gifted by former First Lady of France Bernadette Chirac to the late Princess Diana, the Maison decided to rename the bag in her honour.

The 2019 collection focuses on 45 bags, each providing a unique translation of Dior’s immense aesthetic universe to create an inspired work of high design.

During the invite-only event, guests were able to preview four designs devised by artists Polly Apfelbaum, Burçak Bingöl, Lee Bul and Pae White. The pre-selected bags will also be available exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis to investors of  YOO8 serviced by Kempinski, an upcoming branded residence by 8 Conlay.
