The new episode of FENDI‘s Anima Mundi streaming series features an original jazz performance in New York City by students of The Juilliard School.
Two names that need no introduction are FENDI and Juilliard. For the fifth episode of the Italian Maison’s series of musical performances across Rome, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul, FENDI has decided on New York to celebrate the spirit of jazz.
The idea itself for Anima Mundi was a cause for hope during the darkest days of the pandemic in Italy. It all began in Rome itself at FENDI’s headquarters where artists came together to perform Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons“.
In conjunction with the episode, titled “FENDI Renaissance”, the luxury brand has also started a donation program with Juilliard towards student scholarships, encouraging the talent of young students in music, dance, and drama at the world-leading school in performing arts.
Filmed in December 2020, the performance was the first time students of the Juilliard Jazz Studies Program had performed together since the city shut down earlier that year. They were all dressed in self-selected attire from FENDI’s Women’s and Men’s Fall Winter 2020/21 collections. The ensemble performed an original score, “Rollerblading in Harlem”, composed by student Aaron Matson and commissioned by FENDI.
“The current pandemic has given us an unpredictable set of ever-changing variables. Perfect for Jazz! The art of mastering the moment with insight, execution and feeling,” shared Wynton Marsalis, Director of Juilliard Jazz.
