Arriving in style, the Chanel Cruise collection is officially here. This year’s Cruise centres around travel where creative director Virginie Viard invites the fashionable to cruise along with the likes of Chanel.
Viard follows in the footsteps of the late Karl Lagerfeld, capturing perfectly the essence of Chanel that Coco herself first projected to the world in as revolutionary for its time, with pieces simple, elegant and casual without skimping on class or style.
The Cruise 2019/20 collection campaign stars Caroline de Maigret, Soo Joo Park, Tami Williams, Ola Rudnicka and Amanda Sanchez as heroines of an odyssey at the Gare de Lyon in Paris. Chanel imagines this to be far dreamier than any delayed journey we’ve encountered — think romantic departures, trips fantasied and graceful new beginnings. Maybe we need a little more Chanel to get us there.
And with that, we’re introduced to the collection’s key items: a long jacket in pink tweed, a hooded trench coat belted at the waist, and a blue suit with a large white bow — just to name a few. When Viard first debuted the collection in Chanel’s runway show in Paris back in May, it was the line of jackets, shoes and bags particularly that caught on, sparking what felt like a long wait for the collection to hit stores. The obsession was peak with the Chanel 19 bag, quilted and dressed with hoop handles and signature chains. Walking the walk of Chanel’s famous two-toned footwear, we saw — and fell for, thankfully not in heels — pointed slingback pumps and two-tone booties.
The Chanel Cruise 2019/20 collection is available at Chanel’s boutique in KLCC from 27 November 2019.
