The Italian fashion house that shot to fame and fortune with its luxurious furs and leather accessories has introduced a new Made-To-Order service that focuses on the beloved Colibrì slingbacks. First revealed during the launch of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection, the Colibrì was elevated to cult status when it was spotted on heels of fashionista Priyanka Chopra and Scarlett Johansson.
Named after a vibrant hummingbird that resides in the Caribbean islands, the Colibrì is distinguishable by its multicolour straps that embrace the shape of one’s foot and pointed front toe that gives the illusion of elongated legs. To coincide with the launch of the new service, Fendi sought out four international trendsetters including Italian singer, blogger, and street style mainstay Patricia Manfield to experience this service firsthand. Below is an exclusive teaser of what went on behind-the-scenes:
With the new Made-To-Order service, Fendi devotees interested in scoring their very own customised pair of Colibrì slings will be able to select from 2 different heels heights and 7 luxurious materials for the front toe. These materials include precious embroidery; animalier print calf-hair; sumptuous satin in neutral shades of black or beige; red grey fabric; and a mesh material printed with the iconic ‘FF’ logo that was first designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld in 1965.
Available options for the heel range from classic shades of black or light gold; to animalier calf hair and a mesmerising rattan effect made from straw. The latter is meticulous process that involves cutting and twisting each individual straw to be adhered on the heel. Additional personal touches include the option of adding up to three initials on the ribbon detail, an exclusive service that is currently only available in selected worldwide boutiques and on Fendi.com.
