With a run of only 350 watches world, the brand new MRG-G2000HA by G-SHOCK was just unveiled for the first time in Malaysia. The launch, held at Beta Restobar, was a tribute to the inspiration behind the watch: traditionally crafted Japanese swords known as tetsu-tsuba.
This special edition men’s MR-G model was inspired by the unique texture found on the hilt guard of traditional Japanese swords. Japanese craftmanship is at the heart of the collection, represented by Bihou Asano, a third-generation master artisan in the field. Bihou Asano, whose accomplishments include restoring Important Cultural Properties of Japan, supervised and helped to perform the manual application of a technique called arashi-tsuchime, used for every single watch.
The watches also come with a 3-way time sync capabilities made possible via Bluetooth Connectivity and the G-SHOCK app, as well as G-SHOCK’s GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology, which accurately measures time and location from anywhere on earth.
The event also took the opportunity to introduce another new addition to Casio’s G-SHOCK MTG-B1000. Available in three models, the new MTG-B1000 features the latest evolution of the Core Guard Structure used in the MT-G series. The Core Guard Structure employs a metal frame that is formed by joining the bezel and back cover with metal parts to house the module and provide shock resistance.
Guests in attendance made up of watch connoisseurs, avid customers and brand partners. Mr Tezuka Itsuro, Managing Director of Casio Malaysia was excited to reveal that this year marks the 35th anniversary of G-Shock, before the evening was officially kicked off with a dance routine performed by dancers dressed in straw hats and kung-fu outfits.
