The Maison adds an athletic touch with the latest Tambour Street Diver.
Louis Vuitton unveiled its very first watch in 2002 with the original Tambour. The watch was crafted from a single block of metal taking inspiration from the shape of a drum. Since then the Tambour has continued to evolve with new creations in keeping, or even slightly ahead of its time, like the Tambour Horizon connected watch and last year’s Tambour Curve Flying Tourbillon Poinçon de Genève.
Now, the Maison proudly presents its newest expression of high artisanal quality and multi-functionality as the Tambour takes the plunge into the world of dive watches. 2021, meet the Louis Vuitton Tambour Street Diver.
The timepiece features all the requirements of a traditional dive watch, and more. Sure, it’s water-resistant to 100 meters deep, but Louis Vuitton is going for robust and edgy with a diving scale placed below the sapphire crystal on a turning flange. With purpose, this internal rotating bezel keeps the top case minimal like all Tambour watches, while its gentle inwards slope draws the eye to the centre of the dial.
Let’s talk about the Tambour Street Diver’s dive bezel. Set via a colour-contrasting crown, the letter V on the diving scale is rotated to align with the colour-matched V at the tip of the minute hand. When the two meet, it forms the X marking the beginning of a new dive. Time spent underwater can then be read on the internal bezel with the first 15 minutes highlighted by a colour-blocked scale.
Louis Vuitton retains its quick-change strap system offered with its watches over the past three years, giving you customisable options for casual to formal, and sporty to smart. Aesthetics take a more lighthearted, youthful tone with loud colours, making up three automatic models in 44mm and one quartz version in 39.5mm. To top each one off is a thick coating of Super-LumiNova on dial elements the inner rotating bezel.
We don’t know if we, or anyone, would without some hesitation take a dive with this timepiece on — but there’s no underplaying the Louis Vuitton Tambour Street Diver’s level of elegance and perfection on sea and land.
