Back in 2017, the luxury horologer unveiled its newest store in the historic Metropol building located in the heart of Moscow. Nearly a year later, Hublot has returned to Russia’s bustling capital to kick off the thrilling 2018 FIFA World Cup season by hosting a smashing soiree at the impeccable Baccarat Restaurant on Nikolskaya Street which is a stone’s throw away from the historic Red Square. Joining Hublot during this momentous occasion were several recognizable icons from the world of sports including Manchester United coach José Mourinho; Christian Karembeu and Marcel Desailly; middleweight boxing Champion Gennady Golovkin; Indian Cricket superstar Rohit Sharma; and Ferrari Challenge driver Martin Fuentes.
During the festivities, the guests were treated to a unique culinary experience that had been meticulously prepared by Michelin star chef Yannick Alléno, while British singer and bass player Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple serenaded the crowd on stage. Also spotted at the festivities was Carlito Fuente of Arturo Fuente cigars and Russian contemporary artist Andrey Bartenev. As the brand’s newest official ambassador, Bartenev had a hand in creating the colourful emblems for the popular Hublot Loves Football campaign that was showcased at the party on soccer balls as well as life-sized Russian matryoshka figurines.
As the Official Timekeeper of this year’s World Cup, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer will also be equipping the referees with the unique Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM. This innovative smartwatch comes fitted with several innovative apps including an electronic video assistance system called ‘goal-line technology’ that will help referees to determine the trajectory of the ball during the match.
