In a grand ceremony truly worthy of the momentousness of the occasion, Martell recently unveiled one of its most exceptional creations till date — the Martell Chanteloup XXO. The unique cognac is a remarkable blend of 450 eaux-de-vie taken from the four most prestigious terroirs in France’s famous Cognac region. And the ‘XXO’, which stands for Extra Extra Old, is testament to its rich heritage, created, as it was, with the artisanal savoir-faire that comes from 300 years of prolific experience and nine generations of cellar masters.
One of the world’s oldest and most revered cognac houses, Martell hosted the glamorous launch in the regal environs of the Petit Palais in Paris. Adding to the allure of the Martell Chanteloup XXO was the presentation of the Martell Chanteloup XXO Masterpiece — a beautifully crafted, customised trunk that holds the graceful decanter of the bold golden-amber hued cognac within it.
Over 100 guests from around the world were invited to participate in this gala affair, which included cocktails and drinks in the elegantly lit gardens of the art museum. This was followed by an exquisite dinner prepared by the highly acclaimed, Michelin three-star chef Guy Savoy, in collaboration with Valtaud — the elaborate menu, finalised after months of deliberation, aimed to highlight the intense flavours and aromas of the Martell Chanteloup XXO. As the dinner drew to an end, all eyes turned to the stage and the air was filled by collective gasps of wonder as the immensely talented choreographer and acrobat Yoann Bourgeious set his thrilling trampoline act in motion. With leaps and jumps, he removed the silk curtains covering the mysterious installation on the dais, till, with a magnificent flourish, he eventually revealed the pièce de résistance underneath — the Martell Chanteloup XXO Masterpiece with the Martell Chanteloup XXO glimmering in its burnished-gold glory for all to see.
