Edna Ferber once said : “Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling”. Walking into The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur gives you that feeling. The heritage hotel certainly knows how to celebrate Christmas, from this year’s romantic theme of red roses to stuffed bears dressed in very recognisable attire — you’ll see!
But first, the great feasts that await. Contango is serving all sorts of nostalgic, traditional dishes like roast turkey and mince pie, available for both lunch and dinner. Christmas Afternoon Tea is held at the Tea Lounge, Drawing Room, or the Orchid Conservatory, where the ambiance is even sweeter this season with garlands and candles to set the festive mood. Most exciting of all is the Christmas Eve Dinner at Colonial Cafe, which starts off with mulled wine and ends with homemade Yule log.
That’s not all The Majestic Hotel has prepared this year. At the Smoke House, men will get to kick back and relax with a few tailored events. There’s the Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea that includes the usual suspects — canapé-style bites with coffee and tea — as well as a tankard of beer. For something a little more relaxing (if beer doesn’t do the trick), try the Gentlemen’s Retreat Experience for all the inclusions of the Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea, topped off with a Duke haircut at the debonair barbershop that’s followed with a single-malt Bruichladdich whisky flight.
And what’s Christmas without presents? The hotel presents its famous Phalaenopsis Orchids in two gift packages: Christmas Love and Christmas Joy. Love features the gorgeous orchids and the cuddly Majestic Bear dressed in the same colonial uniform as the guards. But since it’s Christmas, treat yourself or a loved one to Joy, with the addition of a Majestic Spa Experience to wrap up a wonderful year.
