Nothing hits the spot like indulging in a spot of English afternoon tea within the elegant surroundings found at Newens Tea House. Located at Starhill Gallery in Bukit Bintang, this haven for tea aficionados has amassed a steady following over the years for its distinctive flair on the 300-year-old British tradition. As a way to entice more diners to discover the joys of tea, the luxury tea house has launched a trio of new thematic tea sets that promises to excite one’s tastebuds with familiar flavours drawn from Paris, the Middle East and Malaysia.
A French Affair
Diners who journey to Newens Tea House in July will be able to sample the fineries of the ‘A French Affair’. Served with copious amounts of fragrant Vanilla Tea, this charming set presents a plethora of delectable French pastries including crunchy croque-madame and flaky vol-au-vents paired with aromatic wild mushrooms, as well as tempting petit fours in various shapes and colours.
For the month of August, Newens will be paying to tribute to the exotic flavours of the Middle East with the ‘Arabic Delights’ set. Presented on a hand-carved silver tray and paired with soothing Moroccan tea , this set presents an assortment of decadent delights such as sweet baklava, puffy falafels to be paired with freshly made hummus as well as savoury kibbeh stuffed onions and lamb.
Malaysian Tea Set
Last, but certainly not least, is the nostalgic Malaysian Tea set which shines a spotlight on all things local. Available only in September to coincide with Malaysia Day on September 16, this indulgent set offers familiar favourites such as Pisang Goreng (fried banana fritters), satay skewers with juicy morsels of chicken paired with a rich peanut sauce, and roti jala (net bread) served with a heaping portion of chicken curry to be washed down with classic teh tarik (pulled tea).
