I knew it’d probably yield the best results, I was reluctant to undergo invasive surgery for my slightly hooded eyelids and eye bags. Dr Chua Cheng Yu of Veritas Clinic recommended I try the Bladeless Eye Bag Removal, a treatment he developed using a combination of energy-based devices to alleviate the three factors that contribute to eye bags: Excess fat, loose ligaments and loose skin. The results are semi‐permanent and differ from individual to individual, depending on the collagen levels. What it does promise, is a permanent reduction of fat around the eyes.
A numbing cream was first applied and left on for about 15 minutes, after which Dr Chua gave me further numbing injections — about 10 on each side — around the eyes. I expected them to hurt, but thankfully, he used a fine needle and the tiny pricks were hardly felt. What followed next were mild stings – about 150 times on each side – in the eye area from the laser.
Gazing into the mirror post-treatment, I was pleased to note only very slight swelling and redness, though Dr Chua did caution that some people may experience swelling or redness that may take more time to subside.
After the treatment, I was prescribed tetracycline ointment, which helps prevent inflammation and aids healing. I was also advised to avoid the sun, and any facial scrubs and skin or eye serums for at least a week. What little swelling and redness I experienced post-treatment subsided within three days.
I was told to expect visible results in three months. On days when I don’t get enough sleep, my eyes look the same as they did before, although I’m pleased to report that I noted a slight lift about three weeks post- treatment.
