Santa’s heard our wishes. A-list skincare brand Dr. Barbara Sturm is now available on shelves at this new pop-up in Ngee Ann City.
We’ve all seen those images of Kim Kardashian‘s blood-stained face. The woman behind that ‘vampire facial’, officially known as the Platelet-Rich Plasma facial treatment, is Dr. Barbara Sturm. The German aesthetics doctor, who started her career in orthopedics, launched her molecular cosmetics brand in 2014 which specialises in non-surgical, age-resistant skin solutions. Her star-studded clientele includes Kate Moss and Cher.
But what does molecular cosmetics even mean? The brand’s range contains the key ingredient of Purslane, which is an anti-inflammatory antioxidant that activates telomeres, which refers to the caps at the end of a DNA strand and protect our chromosomes. An increase of telomeres can extend the lifespan of cells, and cause old ones to function the way they did in their youth. Purslane, which also contains high levels of Vitamin A, C, E, and omega-3 fatty acids, has regenerative powers that can control inflammation and, in the long run, prevent skin aging.
One product that contains this hero ingredient is the bestseller of Hyaluronic Serum. This contains both low and high weighted hyaluronic acid molecules that penetrate into the skin’s layers and sit on top of skin, working together to deeply moisturise and replenish skin with hydration. At the pop-up, this is also available in a 100 ml bottle.
Other star products to look out for are the Enzyme Cleanser. It is a powder formula activated with water, and contains subtilisin and lipase to break down proteins and lipid fats for effective exfoliation. The Face Cream, the first in her Molecular Cosmetics line, doesn’t just lock in moisture but also stimulates collagen production, and renews skin. The Face Mask is another favourite. Leave it on for the recommended time, let it dry, and rub it off to leave skin smooth and supple.
These aside, the pop-up also offers the kids’ range, skincare kits for newbies and those looking for products according to recommended routines, and dietary supplements to fight inflammation from within.
