Orchard Road is about to see a beauty takeover. This weekend, a massive makeshift tent at Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza will transform into the Sephora Playhouse, a makeup event of epic proportions — think a lipstick slide and an eyeshadow palette trampoline — and if you’re a beauty fan, you need to be in on this.
In celebration of its 10th year anniversary, Sephora is pulling out all the stops with a funhouse-themed event for its VIPs. The warehouse-sized spectacle spans 700 sq m, and will open from July 21-29. The first of its kind for the French beauty retailer, the funhouse will follow the brand’s ‘Teach, Inspire, Play’ philosophy by combining education, shopping and interactive activities.

Learn from industry insiders
Want insider tip and tricks? Learn from the best in the business at the workshop area. Brand trainers and artists will be on-site to demonstrate the latest makeup trend hands-on activities and exclusive skincare tips. No RSVPs are needed, but it’s recommended to turn up early for the best seat in the house — you’ll want to see the blending work of Fenty Beauty’s trending Moroccan Spice eyeshadow palette up-close.
Enter the funhouse
Sephora Playhouse will feature thematic rooms by its blockbuster brands. Navigate a prismatic blue light maze with Estee Lauder, jump into a rainforest ball pit with Tarte Cosmetics, explore Morocco’s mystique with Fenty Beauty and visit the Kat Von D museum, which spotlights the edgy brand’s signature products. Needless to say, the photo opportunities are plenty, especially at the Benefit Cosmetics room which presents a ‘millennial pink’ take on the American diner.
In a move to get shoppers to “rethink the whole beauty retail experience”, the playhouse’s immersive experience extends to its online experience. Each thematic room has a unique QR code which leads you to a different microsite where even more activities await. Also available at the playhouse are exclusive sets and collectible launches for skincare savants and makeup fiends.
