Yet, many of us are still finding new things to do on this 728-square kilometre piece of land we call home. With travel still off the cards (we know, we’re quite miserable about it too), we’re here to share another hobby you might want to pick up: acrylic pouring.
A therapeutic fluid painting technique, acrylic pouring simply means pouring acrylic paint onto a canvas and distributing its colours by tilting the painting surface. Seems easy enough right? Not exactly.
You can’t just pour out the paint and call it a day — you’ll need to get the right ratio of paint to pouring medium (ranging from a blend of water, Mod Podge, dish soap, PVA Glue, Acrylic Flow Improver), and some instructors advise students use additives like silicone oil in the mix as well.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re planning to attempt this in the comfort of your home, the numerous tools you’ll need to buy, a messy countertop and the risk of your pipes and sinks being stained after paint-washing might make you think twice.
