The onslaught of COVID-19 has prompted drastic reactions around the world — some countries have gone on complete lockdown, while many have imposed strict travel restrictions and quarantine orders on residents. To describe these as trying times, is certainly not an understatement.
Over in Italy, which is now considered the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, master chef Massimo Bottura has found a way to make the time spent in lockdown go by a little easier. Also in quarantine with his family, the celebrated chef has closed his Michelin-starred restaurant Osteria Francescana in Modena, and turned his home kitchen into a live cooking studio for a show he calls Kitchen Quarantine.
Catering to his fans around the world — including those in neighbouring Spain and France, which are likewise under lockdown — Kitchen Quarantine is a live Instagram cooking show of Bottura’s family dinners, so viewers can learn to cook similar dishes at home.
Every night at 8PM CET (3 AM SGT), with the help of his son, daughter and wife Lara, the chef whips up easy recipes for the home cook like Thai green curry, salad and boiled meat, and tortellini in panna (cream).
Though past livestreams are no longer available on his Instagram channel, Fine Dining Lovers has preserved some of the shows on YouTube.
