Around 170 guests bore witness to the happy union of Sherry Thia and Janan Kwek, the second son of Jayne Kwek. The groom’s mother took a year to conceptualise the wedding, from the atmosphere and invitation cards, right down to the table settings. The White Rabbit’s entire space was transformed into a whimsical setting where guests could pose for photos with giant butterflies, lady bugs, garden snails, and even a floral wagon attached to a white horse! The bridal car took the form of a baby blue Volkswagen Beetle covered with large floral stickers. The bridesmaids wore blush pink gowns, while the groomsmen showed up in pale blue pants, suspenders and quirky bowties. Sherry donned a flattering lace gown with spaghetti straps and a soft mermaid train. Janan opted for a pastel blue suit, blue suede shoes and a bowtie to match. Dapper male guests and female guests wearing quirky fascinators sat down for a lunch that included Atlantic salmon, beef short ribs braised for 36 hours and Pavlova. The revelry continued into the late evening with a buffet at Jayne’s house for about 100 relatives and friends.
