Patricia Kaunang threw a costume party at Grand Hyatt Jakarta to celebrate her 60th birthday. The extravagant affair was a year in the making, with Patricia travelling between Singapore and Jakarta to meet with event planners and practise routines with her dance partner. On the big day, over 200 guests flew in to mark this special occasion.
The cocktail space was spruced up with three huge backdrops that featured Patricia in various dance poses, while the ballroom’s decor exuded a Moulin Rouge vibe. Instead of presents, guests were also encouraged to make donations to the Maria Lukito Foundation, an organisation that works on providing high-school dropouts and university students with quality education. When it was time to cut the cake (a giant one in the likeness of Betty Boop, a cartoon character she loves), Patricia was carried in by four hunky shirtless male models. One other highlight that evening was when Patricia performed two Latin dances with award-winning dancer Ezequiel Gomez.
The party ended on a high, with 15 guests going home with best-dressed prizes. Singaporean make-up artist Yuan Sng, who donned three costumes, won the top prize — a pair of return air tickets to Paris.
