Prestige kicked off its 20th anniversary celebrations this year on an auspicious note – with a Chinese New Year dinner at Yan’s Dining in Mandarin Gallery. The gathering was the first of a series of 20 exclusive, curated events leading up to the Prestige Ball this September. Among the 18 special guests were society stalwarts and long-time Prestige supporters Tan Su Shan, Trina Liang, Paige Parker, Grace Wong and Tan Min-Li. The night began with a thank you speech by Burda Luxury Managing Director Lena Kwek, followed by a lively lo hei. The attendees were then treated to 11 scrumptious Shanghainese dishes from the kitchen of former Chinese TV news anchor Wang Yanqing’s restaurant. Most popular were the Black Truffle Oil Fried Shrimp Balls with Shredded Chicken, Braised Whole Abalones with Pork Knuckle, and Steamed Black Cod Fish with Chinese Cabbage. Bernie Leung and Sara Shen, co-founders of Tai Thong Wine and Spirits who are also new faces to the society scene, made the night even more memorable by hosting a pairing of two fine cognacs from boutique brand Exsto, namely the Élixir and Or Impérial.
