The Fall auction season is here once more, bringing with it an extravagant array of jewelled masterpieces for discerning collectors and one of the annual highlights is the Phillips‘ Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite auction.
The blockbuster sale this year features 155 lots of exquisite jewels, including Argyle pink diamonds. Mysterious and mythical, these gems are of the rarest on earth, and boast a scintillating palette of multi-coloured hues. Only two skilled artisans work on the cutting and polishing of these diamonds at ateliers in Perth. Three of the pieces in the lot feature these pink diamonds designed by three extraordinary ladies: Gemologist Paige Parker, and Karen Suen, and Sarah Ho, jewellery designers based in Hong Kong and London respectively. These pieces include Lot 606 of the Fancy Pink Diamond, Seed Pearl and Diamond Earrings, Lot 607 of the Fancy Pink Diamond, Seed Pearl and Diamond Earrings, and Lot 608 of the Conch Pearl, Pink Diamond and Diamond Ring.
Argyle pink diamonds aside, the auction’s high profile piece is Lot 639: A rare and exceptional cushion-shaped 5.22-carat ruby, surrounded by pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds amounting to 3.55 carats on a 18 karat white gold band.
Ahead of its annual Fall Auction happening on 25 November 2019 at JW Marriott Hong Kong, we gathered our esteemed VIPs and friends for a private preview of the most exceptional pieces in the Autumn/Winter collection slated to go under the hammer. The afternoon soiree was an elegant affair held at the The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, and was accompanied by Baron de Rothschild Brut champagne and canapes by the hotel.
Guests were also given a thorough insight into the history and craftsmanship behind the baubles by Terry Chu, Head of Jewellery, Asia, Phillips.
