Susanna, a patron of the arts, has always believed in working hard and having fun along the way – a philosophy she adopted even when she was just 19. Her university life revolved around classes and extracurricular activities; she was really into aerobics and sometimes taught classes. To help pay off her tuition fees, she also did part-time promotional work at exhibitions, and occasionally modelled for television and newspaper commercials. She had a short stint, too, as a producer’s assistant for TVCs, documentaries and even a movie by Columbia Pictures!
The most memorable incident when you were 19?
A group of us organised a fashion show for our faculty night, and I was crowned the Business Administration And Accounts Faculty Queen! Favourite song/band/singer that year?
Another One Bites the Dust by Queen. I like the music and the repetitive splicing, but really, any track from Queen is fabulous. Their music never fails to make me and my friends get up and dance.
What was your life plan back then?
Get a degree and find a job that gives me ample opportunities to travel.
Advice for your teenage self?
Be brave, be adventurous and take more risks. Don’t be afraid to fail, and don’t feel pressured to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
