Watch history as it unfolds. Today, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting married in Windsor at St George’s Chapel.
Not invited? No worries, here’s a virtual but absolutely stellar front-row seat — thanks to the royal family who is broadcasting the ceremonious event today, May 19, at 6pm (Singapore time) on their YouTube channel. It is the 21st century, after all.
We’ll be re-watching this royal wedding video, over and over again, for sure.
Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, Head To Toe On Her Wedding Day
Designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller of historic French fashion house Givenchy. Made from an exclusive double bonded silk cady developed by Waight Keller. The silk cady has a soft matt lustre while the bonding process and pure white colour bring a fresh modernity to the dress. Yet, at its core, the dress epitomises timeless minimal elegance.
5m-long and made from silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers in silk threads and organza. Also designed by Clare Waight Keller. It represents the distinctive flora of each 53 Commonwealth country united in one spectacular floral composition, including the Singapore orchid. Markle manages to sneak in two personal favourite flowers into the mix too: Wintersweet and California Poppy.
Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, lent to Markle by The Queen. Made in 1932, designed specifically to accommodate the centre brooch, which is a present to Queen Mary, the then Princess Mary, in 1893 by the County of Lincoln on her marriage to Prince George, Duke of York. The bandeau and the brooch were bequeathed by Queen Mary to The Queen in 1953.
The Other Jewellery
Earrings and bracelet made by Cartier. Markle chose not to wear a necklace, which probably would have looked off-putting with the off-the-shoulder neckline of her Givenchy haute couture gown.
The Hair And Make-up
Markle’s loose, low bun was styled by Serge Normant, with makeup by long-time friend and make-up artist Daniel Martin.
The wedding shoes are based on a Givenchy refined pointed couture design made of a silk duchess satin.
