JJLin has achieved much in his decade-long music career: Awards in Taiwan and at home, songwriting collaborations and now, the success of Stories Untold, his 10th album in as many years, which he has described as being “closer to my heart and my roots”.
The Singapore-boy-turned-international-superstar has come a long way from his 2003 debut album Music Voyager. Since then, Lin has written songs for the likes of singer A-Mei and Harlem Yu; performed at the 2004 National Day Parade and launched his own fashion line Smudge in 2009. Last year alone, Lin took top honours at the 17th Annual Composers and Authors Society of Singapore Awards for the seventh consecutive year (based on the amount of royalties he earned), and his haul of Top Local Songwriter, Top Local Artiste Of The Year and Top Local Chinese Pop Song marked a first in the award’s history.
This November, he’ll be back in Singapore for his whirlwind Timeline World Tour, before heading to London, Sydney and Melbourne next year. The nice guy isn’t all about work though, Lin is also Singapore’s tourist ambassador and an anti-drug ambassador in Taiwan.
