Last week, the Singapore Polo Club saw five teams, each representing one of the globe’s continents, battle it out at the exciting Diplomats’ Cup 2015. Held at the Singapore Polo Club from March 3 to 7, with finals on the 8th, it was team Asia (Headhunters/Elevation) that took home the coveted first place, beating Africa (First Aurora) to a comfortable victory of 13-6.5.
Team Asia comprised captain Satinder Garcha — who scored a total of eight goals — and players Sattar Khan, Lawrence Khong, Keith Yeo and Creighton Yeo. Four-handicap Khan was awarded Most Valuable Player, while Ichita, belonging to Garcha, was named Best Playing Pony.
Europe (Elang), Oceania (Polo 45) and Americas (K2 Polo Nirvana) took third, fourth and fifth respectively.
The 2015 Diplomats’ Cup was open to teams with handicaps of up to four goals and is the first tournament in the Triple Crown Series. The next competition in the series, the International ProAm, will take place from April 14 to 19, while the final Singapore Open will be held on May 19 to 24.
