One is a leading Singapore jewellery designer who spearheads local pride with Keepers: A collective of independent craftsmen and artists. The other is a philanthropist, power mum, GIA certified gemologist and an author. We are, of course, referring to Carrie K. and Paige Parker, who have collaborated to create the Journey collection. Their coming together is a dream duo come true. What binds them is their love for meaningful storytelling – Carolyn Kan of Carrie K. does this through her jewellery designs; Parker, on the other hand, has recently released Don’t Call Me Mrs Rogers, a book detailing her Guinness World Record road trip that spanned 116 countries across three continents and three years.

Journey is a manifestation of the two. Parker’s book is a tribute to her daughters and was written to inspire them. Kan, who’s well-versed in creating modern heirlooms, translated this into a symbolic collection, featuring visual icons of navigational tools as well as gemstones that are meaningful to both Carrie K. and Paige Parker.

A prominent motif in the collection is the compass, which doubles up as a clasp and centerpiece on a link chain bracelet and necklace. The compass link is available in 925 silver, 9k and 18k gold and is set with London blue topaz or green onyx; the 9k and 18k options can be set in white topaz or white moonstone.

The motif repeats itself on a second design, this time larger and embellished with a centerpiece gemstone and surrounded with two white topaz halos on a long necklace, pearl clip or pearl brooch. Prefer a more subtle, yet still statement accessory? There’s also a signet ring and ear studs, which can be worn on its own, or with a ear jacket or hoop jacket. The gemstones for this range from red garnet to white moonstone.

World travellers will love the Globe range, which takes inspiration from the gyroscope and the angular coordinates of the world. This is available in a ear jacket, hoop earrings and ring, which offers a red garnet or rose quartz options.
The symbolism behind this collection doesn’t stop at its travel tribute. In a move that’s expected from Paige Parker’s philanthropism and Kan’s desire to give back, 50 percent of profits from this collection will be donated to the Singapore Committee for UN Women that holds programmes to empower women through education and job opportunities.

The Journey collection will be available at Carrie K. Fine Jewellery Atelier from November 5, 2018. Made-to-order options are available for pieces in the 9k or 18k gold options.
