Converse’s Jack Purcell, recognised by its distinctive “smile” branding on the toe cap, has been given a playful update by Comme des Garçons for the first time in 10 years.
Remastered for stability, comfort and fit with a cushioned sockliner and insole as well as a high traction herringbone rubber sole, the iconic sneakers from the renewed collaboration feature the PLAY line’s signature heart logo on a silver filigree coloured canvas.
The two brands go way back, before collaborations exploded in the fashion world. In 2006, Rei Kawakubo sent a model down the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus Autumn/Winter runway wearing the Chuck Taylor All Star. Three years later, the two storied brands officially commenced their partnership, which would see the unmistakable Comme des Garçons heart-and-eyes graphic stamped on several Converse silhouettes in more than 20 iterations — peeking out amongst polka dots as well as multiplied and magnified across the shoes.
In addition to the new drop, Dover Street Market Singapore also stocks the now-classic Converse x Comme des Garçons Chuck Taylors in black, white, pink, neon green, bright blue and khaki.
