Hot on the heels of Givenchy and Clare Waight Keller’s debut at Pitti Uomo comes another milestone for the French luxury fashion house: A sneaker collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger. This marks the first time the maison has partnered with an external sneaker manufacturer on an international scale.
Revealed on the runway, where Waight Keller showed her first standalone menswear show, the new sneaker offering in question is the Mexico66 GDX. An iteration of the classic Onitsuka Tiger Nippon Made Mexico66, the shoes are available in white and black, with both featuring a rear tab inscribed with the words ‘Givenchy – Onitsuka Tiger’. The all-white edition features the iconic Onitsuka Tiger stripe lines with Givenchy lettering, while the black ones boast Givenchy’s black and red details.
While it might seem like an abrupt collaboration, it’s not entirely a surprise for those in the know — Waight Keller herself regularly wears the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66.
Both shoes are available for purchase at Givenchy and Onitsuka Tiger flagship stores worldwide, and online through givenchy.com and selected social media.
