Alessandro Michele has a knack for turning nostalgia into something new.
His reimagining of the Jackie hobo bag is winning a new generation of fans for the Gucci icon. Its distinctive piston closure in gold-tone metal and signature curvaceous half-moon shape are accentuated with fun candy colours. A modern mini size and the addition of a detachable long shoulder strap – you can wear the top-handle classic in various styles ranging from crossbody to clutch – imbue a fresh, youthful appeal.

The storied bag famously earned its moniker from getting photographed so often with one of the most stylish American women, Jackie Kennedy. The power of these pictures propelled Gucci as the brand synonymous with the glamorous jet-setter lifestyle circa the glorious 1960s and 70s.

For the 2020 release, Michele revisited a vintage Jackie from his personal archive. He saw the bag on men as well, and debuting his spin with a refreshing non-binary attitude at the men’s show where the Jackie 1961 was styled on both men and women in diverse looks, nailing the zeitgeist poetically.

Here, the Jackie 1961’s celebrity allure is elevated with fine jewellery. Handcrafted by skilled Italian goldsmiths, the GG Running line of everyday pieces injects pizzazz with sleek designs and sparkling diamonds, while Lion Head earrings add a touch of old world charm with chrome diopside gemstones.
