Last year, we launched Mask for Good, a series of three silent auctions online to raise funds for Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL), a professional non-profit organisation dedicated to meeting the needs of caregivers of persons with mental health issues in Singapore.
For our first edition in August, Paris-based Singaporean fashion designer Andrew Gn created a unique, couture-quality piece that is entirely hand-cut, assembled and hand-embroidered by his atelier’s petite mains. In October, we auctioned 20 handmade masks by Singapore-based couture designer Nicolas Laville that pays homage to Singapore’s diverse landscape, cultures and icons. The third and final edition of our Mask for Good campaign in December is a collection of 10 “War Paint” masks by Dzojchen. Made with fabrics used in her menswear line, each mask, which also comes with a chunky chain attached to the ear loops, is unique in its pattern and colour.
By the generosity of our friends, we successfully sold all 31 masks, raising a total of S$10,450.28. This money will go towards Caregivers Alliance’s fundraising campaign #YOLO2020, which aims to raise awareness for mental wellness. Tote Board will be topping our donation with another 40%, so CAL will receive a further $4,180.11!
This three-month-long campaign will not at all be possible without the support of Andrew Gn, Nicolas Laville and Chelsea Scott-Blackhall, so big shouts to our amazing designers for making such beautiful masks. Special thanks to our winners:
