The two American fashion brands have teamed up for a limited-edition line of sporty staples. Dubbed “Athleticwear”, the capsule collection is steeped in both brands’ traditions: you’ll see Coach’s heritage in craftsmanship married with the legacy of athletic apparel that Champion, inventor of the hoodie, was built on.
The collection is packed with everyday pieces like T-shirts, jogger pants, sweaters and jackets for him and her. Some of these casual styles are designed with Champion’s Reverse Weave fabric, while others have been given an upgrade by way of fancy materials like leather and shearling — both Coach signatures. That mix of luxe and laid-back attitudes is probably best embodied by the leather jacket for women, which comes with a contrasting hood.
Besides clothes, the collection features an array of bags and leather goods that are made with Coach’s expertise. The New York label’s iconic styles, such as the Metropolitan duffel and the Dylan crossbody bag, have been reworked with the special Coach x Champion logo. You’ll also find clutches, pouches, belt bags and card cases crafted with Champion’s coated canvas fabric.
“I was inspired by the idea of elevating sportswear silhouettes by combining our iconic symbols in a way that feels fresh, youthful and immediate,” shared Coach creative director Stuart Vevers. Indeed, he made an emphasis on youthfulness through the campaign.
Instead of calling upon Coach’s A-list ambassadors like Jennifer Lopez, Megan Thee Stallion or Michael B. Jordan, Vevers tapped on an array of TikTok stars to appear in the campaign. Wisdom Kaye, Maha Gondal and Jeffrey Tung, all of whom have gone viral with their style-centric videos and amassed thousands of followers, show off the collection through a series of photographs by Alessandro Simonetti. True to Coach’s inclusive spirit, the diverse cast is also joined by plus-size model Paloma Elsesser.
The campaign cast will also star in a series of fun TikTok challenges called “How to Coach a Champion”, which fans can take part in by following Coach’s profile, as well as the #CoachxChampion hashtag. If you’re ready to shop the collection, though, simply head to the nearest Coach store or go to the fashion brand’s website.
