An exceptional showcase of the maison’s time-tested ingenuity and precious savoir faire demonstrated by two highlights from Hermès’ Autumn/Winter 2021 shoe offerings.
Heritage sophistication
Beneath the buzz of new-season women’s shoes, remarkable touches that are a hat tip to Hermès’ equestrian-steeped artisanal craftsmanship elevate modern sensibilities. Immaculate braiding circa the ’70s is just the accent to make these so-now silhouettes so sensational.
The maison revisits its roots and takes a new look at one of its emblematic signatures, the Roulis buckle, rejuvenated with elegant aged gold finish on glossy red goatskin.
Applied by hand in a consistently precise gesture, the discipline and rigour of saddle-stitching is a revered art. Here, the contrast stitching enclosing dyed edges on the boots expresses discreet luxury through pure lines and Hermès-synonymous hues. Yet, the refinement also speaks volumes in celebrating the beauty of leather.
Hybrid ace
The maison’s new men’s shoes strike a playful tone as Hermès gets the best out of contrasting styles. An unexpected credit card-sized side pocket lends the Defence hiking boot an urban edge, amplified with sumptuous suede calfskin and a new sole in leather and notched rubber.
Outdoorsy mountain boots get a haute sportif tilt via the zing of orange or white. Apart from the uppers in leather or suede calfskin, the maison’s update features a combination of materials and details, such as metal hooks, shearling lining or rubber flatform soles that add textural interest. This white model below is also available in women’s sizes.
