This Cruise collection, Gucci returns home to Rome, the birthplace of none other than Alessandro Michele himself. Over-the-top extravagance is synonymous to his Gucci and judging by the show’s locale, that’s exactly what the collection is set to be. It’s slated to happen at the ancient site of the Capitoline Museums, the oldest museum complex in the world and a symbol of Rome’s antiquity and ancient history in all its glory.
This move isn’t the first for the house, as its prior runway collections were staged in other historically important sites such as UNESCO world heritage site Alyscamps, London’s Westminster Abbey, and the Palatine Gallery at Pitti Palace in Florence. “The choice of location continues Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s dialogue with the old world, this time drawing from a place reminiscent of his childhood,” the house said in a statement.
